Inquiry type Parts
Area of Vehicle Lift Gate
Part Name Upper bumper
OEM Part Number 68596238AA & 68596234AA
Issue Summary When replacing the Liftgate, there are stoppers / bumpers attahed with rivets. While the CEG says transfer or replace of components is included in liftgate R&R, there is a difference in time when having to "Transfer" the stoppers as the tech must stop the process, get drill, find an appropiate size drill bit. Carefully drill out the rivets not to damage the stopper/ bumper. Once you get the part off the old liftgate, then you need to set up a rivet gun for the correct size rivet and install the part using the correct rivets.
Suggested Action if transfering riveted on brackets, time should not be included in R&R of the liftgate as it require more work than just installing a new bumper stopper without having to save the old part.
