Proposed Resolution: MOTOR stated:
After review we’ve determined the following:

1. According to the “Guide To Estimating: RADIATOR”, “Drain, Check and Refill Fluids” and “Purge Air From System” is listed as “Included”.

2. Please note:
a. During the process of “Refill Fluids” and “Purge Air from System” the technician should “Visually Check” for leaks and “Cooling System Concerns”.

b. Pressure Testing for Diagnosis of Cooling system is Not Included.

c. Cooling System leak repair is Not Included.

d. Running “clear water” through the cooling system would be associated with a system “flush” and would not be included.

e. MOTOR assumes that the facility has all necessary tools and equipment in order to complete any given repair with regards to owning and operating a “vacuum bleeder.”

f. Scan tool use, checking for leaks and multiple attempts at bleeding the coolant system would also not be included.

g. MOTOR is unable to foresee if it may take any additional attempts and how many. MOTOR recommends an On the Spot Evaluation for any additional bleed procedures beyond the initial fill/bleed procedure.

Issue Summary When filling coolant on this car, Procedures call to Run normal water through the system untill it drains out clean. It states to repeat the steps 1 to 8 until it comes out clear. Is this included? When the cooling system is NOW clear, we can now fill the coolant mixture.Start the engine and run until coolant circulates. When the cooling fan operates and coolant circulates, refill coolant through the radiator cap. Repeat step 11 until the cooling fan operates 3 - 5 times and bleed air sufficiently out of the cooling system. Install the radiator cap and fill the reservoir tank to the "MAX (or F)" line with coolant. Run the vehicle under idle until the cooling fan operates 2 - 3 times. Stop the engine and wait for coolant to cool down. Repeat 10 to 15 to bleed air out of the cooling system until the coolant level doesn't fall any more.If we choose to use a vaccum fill bleed method, was this factored into the labor time? The procedures do not identify the tool usage. If we fill the system manually, does the time include to "Repeat" multiple steps?
Suggested Action When procedures call to run clear water and wait untill clear is draining, is that included? When the procedures call to "repeat" steps multiple times are those operations included? Is vaccum fill & bleed cooling system using a specialized tool to fill the coolant included?
